Local Treatment Providers

Pursuant to Title 18, United States Code, Section 3154, the U.S. Pretrial Serices Agency is charged with the responsiblity of providing appropriate services to defendants placed under our agency's supervision.  The services are intended to reasonably mitigate identified risks of nonappearnace and/or danger to the community and to assist the defendant as they progress through their criminal proceedings.  

Substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health issues are needs that are found among a some defendants placed under pretrial supervision.  To assist with these needs, the U.S. Pretrial Services Agency, in collaboration with the U.S. Probation Officer, refers defendants to locally contracted programs.  The following are programs currently (as of March 2023) contracted to provide SUD and mental health services:

  1. New Bridge Foundation (Berkeley):  residential SUD treatment
  2. Dolan Mental Health (San Francisco and Oakland): outpaitent individual and group SUD treatment/individual mental health treatment
  3. HOPE (San Francisco, Oakland and San Mateo): outpatient individual and group SUD treatment  
  4. Pathway Society (San Jose): residential SUD treatment/outpatient individual and group SUD treatment/individual mental health treatment
  5. Valley Health Services (Monterey): outpatient individual and group SUD treatment/individual mental health treatment

Additionally, for defendants on pretrial status who have not viable housing options at the time of their release, the Agency also contracts with the Geo Halfway House in San Francisco.
